I said a little prayer before I began (actually, I do this before I begin each and every project. I like knowing that my hands and creative thought are being guided ... ). [smile]
I gathered my supplies, took a deep breath, and loaded my brush ...
This is a picture of the parchment background for the quote. I began to pencil in the branch and then the words ... the hours passed and before I looked up to see the clock (which revealed that I was soooo late on my schedule for the day!), I had painted the design in it's entirety. Sorry - I do like to show the step-by-step illustration, but brushes, paint and time flew!!
So, there you have it ... the finished headboard.
Now, the footboard ...
My thoughts were "simple" here. Nothing too detailed, but something to make it special. So, I decided to take the branch from above and carry the same onto the footboard.
And, finally, a picture of the two ....
This bed will be for sale at Sisters Three & Me ... any takers?? :)

(by the way - our Dalmatians & Cruella won First Prize at the Parade!! I'm hoping to get some pics from Troop Moms ... yes - can you believe it? I forgot my stinkin' camera! UGH!!! I don't even want to talk about it - I'm so disgusted with myself!...)
... Okay - back to the unveiling (I'm sitting here rolling my eyes at myself, by the way ...). The next project is one that I am truly excited about, as a home decor shop by the name of Sisters Three & Me (I know ... cute, huh?) contacted me to decoratively paint a bed for them. Too excited for words am I!
I also have the footboard to embellish a smidgen.
So, the request has been to incorporate a quote of Jiminy Cricket's from Pinocchio. I immediately pictured and old piece of parchment, perhaps found by chance in someone's attic, left behind by our magical little cricket-friend as a bit of wisdom to share with generations abroad. I would also like to incorporate a bit of Pinocchio in this piece ... maybe a branch with sparse leaves nestled behind the paper, but poking and peeking through and above this message to represent our dear, yet mischievous, Pinocchio's nose when one too many fibs were told.
Hmmmm ... Let's see how this turns out ... :)
Are your eyes still dry? Children really do keep us grounded, don't they? I know that mine help me to review my words, gestures and deeds practically on a daily basis ... and most nights I go to bed thinking, "I could have done better." But then, God grants us with a gift of the rising sun, a new day, a blank canvas on which to paint with love, generosity, compassion - everything that we wish to enstill in our children, our reflections, who look to us for guidance.
Dear Lord, may you guide me through each day so that I may be a blessing to my children, my family, friends and those that I meet. I pray, Jesus, that you forgive me for my shortcomings and radiate your light, full of love and grace, to shine through me, guiding a path for my life that is pleasing to You. Thank you for each and every blessing in my life. I praise Your holy name ... Amen.

I asked if they needed any help ... she gave the time for the next meeting ... and I was HOOKED!

For this latest banner I'm thinking embroidered felt flowers with glittery curly-cue stems and the Girl Scout logo ... a little more grown up since our girls will be using this banner for a number of years to come.
(Children's Jack-o-lanterns carved last weekend)
Autumn Leaves ...
(The view I enjoy as I sit here at my desk sharing my thoughts with you ...)
And, Vibrant Reds ...
How I love this time of year ... Have I mentioned that before? :)
Tell me ... What do you love about Autumn?

During my bloggin' lull, I was busy creating a Family Tree for a very special gal, Miss Sara! If you haven't given her a visit yet, you must! She's a crafty, witty, warm-hearted, fun-lovin' gal who just makes your day shine brighter! (Oops! And I must share with you the lovely frame she sent to me as soon as I get my camera back from my mom! It was such a lovely surprise to find a goodie in the mail just for me!!)
And, since I just mailed off her Tree to her, I thought that I would share with you the step-by-step pics:I love the look of hand-torn edges - especially on coldpress paper - it just gives you the lovely layers of paper quality that is just screaming to be antiqued! This part is the most fun for me ... water, paints & brushes - YAHOO! I love to play with the colors ... see where they move across the paper and mingle with the other hues. It can be quite addictive!! :)
